She’s been working with Norma since 2008 and was thrilled to join White Coat Captioning at its inception. She is also the founder of the Open Steno Project. She particularly loves captioning medical school classes and tech conferences.

Meet the Team
Every caption we deliver is written live by a real human captioner. These are the people behind the keyboard.
Captioner
Amanda Lundberg
RPR, CRC
Amanda has been captioning with White Coat since 2015, two years into her career. After a chance introduction to Norma through a mutual friend, she earned a spot on the team and never looked back. She has captioned everything from medical school lectures and tech conferences to major sporting events, including the Sochi Olympics and 32 of the 64 matches of the 2014 World Cup. Amanda lives in New Mexico with her husband and four rescue dogs, and spends much of her free time fostering more. When she isn’t doing something dog-related, she’s traveling, exploring, or lost in a good fantasy novel.
Captioner
Lora Stefanowicz
Lora has been a CART captioner since 2006 and was Norma’s first hire, joining White Coat in 2011. She specializes in medical terminology and the sciences, and after captioning the classroom years of medical school more times than she can count, she’s convinced she’d have a fighting chance at passing the boards (though she’s happy to leave that to the actual doctors). What she loves most is getting to know her students and learning alongside them; every class brings something new. Lora lives in the suburbs of Philadelphia with her husband, their dogs, and a parrot. Off the clock she’s traveling, camping in the RV, cooking, tending her sourdough and her garden, and celebrating all things fall, Halloween especially.
Captioner
Rachel Purvis
CRC
Rachel began her captioning career in 2010 and joined White Coat in January 2020. Her favorite part of the job is working directly with clients and making a real difference in their everyday lives. She lives in Iowa with her husband, two daughters, and the family’s fur babies. Away from the steno machine, she enjoys reading, tending her flower gardens, traveling with her family, and being out in nature.
Captioner
Ashly Jenkins
CRC
Ashly has been captioning since 2009. She started as a broadcast captioner for networks including CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, and ESPN, and was handpicked to caption the Opening Ceremony of the 2014 Winter Olympics, seen by more than 30 million viewers on NBC. After having children she switched to CART captioning, and her only regret is not doing it sooner. Since joining White Coat in 2018 she has captioned college classes, meetings, interviews, yoga and meditation sessions, conferences, and everything in between. No two days are the same, which is exactly why she loves the work. Ashly lives in Iowa with her husband, two children, and two dogs, and enjoys crochet, pressing flowers, reading, and trying to cuddle a feisty Corgi.
Captioner
Diane Scott
Diane has been providing realtime captions since 2005, starting in sports and television: local and national news, shopping channels, college and professional sports, and the Beijing, Vancouver, London, and Sochi Olympics. After she stepped away from broadcast work in 2016, a mutual contact introduced her to Norma, and a fill-in assignment turned into a permanent role captioning medical classes and technical meetings, and eventually working on-site at technology conferences. She’s in it for the long haul. Diane lives in West Des Moines, Iowa, with her husband, three children, and two French bulldogs. In her free time she bicycles, relaxes with the dogs, and tends her six-foot patch of garden, which yields an impressive 12 tomatoes and 22 peppers a season.
Captioner
Maggie Rumfelt
Maggie has been providing realtime captioning for more than 10 years, mostly in technology and medical education. She has traveled widely to caption conferences and events, and has worked in a wide range of professional and educational settings. She is passionate about accessibility, disability rights, and making communication accessible to everyone. Maggie lives in Seattle with her wife, their two young children, and a house full of animals.
