Accessibility Statement

Accessibility is our business. White Coat Captioning exists so that deaf, hard-of-hearing and non-native-English-speaking audiences get the same content as everyone else in the room, and we hold our own website to the same standard. We want everyone to be able to find out what we do, read what our clients say, and request a quote without barriers.

Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA across whitecoatcaptioning.com. WCAG is the international standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act guidance, Section 508, the UK Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations and the European Accessibility Act.

What we’ve done

In September 2026 we reviewed every core page of this site with automated testing (axe-core, against WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 Level A and AA) and manual checks, and made these improvements:

  • Button, link and menu colours adjusted so all text meets the 4.5:1 contrast ratio
  • A visible focus indicator on every link, button and form field, so keyboard users can always see where they are
  • A “Skip to content” link at the top of every page
  • Links in text underlined rather than distinguished by colour alone
  • One main heading per page, with headings in a logical order for people who navigate by heading
  • Text alternatives for photographs and logos, and clear names on image links
  • Touch and click targets at least 24 pixels, including the social-media icons
  • Readable text on our dark-blue footer, including the search box
  • Labels on all form fields, including the quote-request form, which also works without a mouse
  • Text that can be resized to 200% without loss of content, and page zoom that is never disabled
  • An accessibility toolbar (left side of every page) to increase text size or switch to high contrast

After these changes, automated testing found no WCAG Level A or AA failures on the pages we reviewed.

Known limitations

Automated tools don’t catch everything, so we want to be clear about what’s still in progress:

  • We are carrying out a manual screen-reader review and will update this statement when it’s complete.
  • New pages and content are checked as they’re added.

What we can’t fully control

Videos embedded from YouTube and Vimeo play in those platforms’ own players. Our videos are captioned — that’s rather the point — but the player controls belong to the platform.
